As we run different entities at our manufacturing plant four different types of by-products are produced:
Krulstertjies – is produced when soft lathes are debarked. This type of bark takes the form of a very soft pigtail and makes good horse bedding and mixture for your veggie box soil.
Wood chips – is produced when poles are debarked and commonly used as ground cover on fruit farms and to make compost.
Nuggets – pieces of bark from saw logs when sawn. Used in different applications in gardens, landscaping and pots.
Pine shavings (ABF) – shaven from old heaps of dried out Pine offcuts.
Our Pine shavings is an all-natural choice used as bedding for equestrian estates and poultry farms to keep the animals dry and comfortable. The absorbent wood flakes makes clean-up easy and helps to keep your animals healthier.
Pine wood shavings are non-toxic and don't release toxic fumes affecting the animals, this is naturally the most common product used for animal bedding.
It is relatively cheap compared to other materials.
Wood shavings reduce smell as it reduces the ammonia in the air that comes out of the poultry droppings. The ammonia can be very dangerous to both chickens and the people working on the farm as it can lead to eye problems and respiratory damage.
During winter, wood shavings provide insulation from the cold ground giving the poultry and horses the needed warmth.
